Deanne Joosten
Director
Deanne completed her Bachelor of Performing Arts majoring in Acting and Design at Federation University. Her passion and love of theatre and the performing arts has been a constant thread throughout her career pathway which have led to quite diverse experiences and achievements over the past 30 years.
Throughout her career Deanne has directed, designed, performed or produced in over 100 productions. She has been involved in productions ranging from small casts in community theatre performances to large scale school musicals and rock eisteddfods. In 2011 Deanne directed a professional production which was selected for the VCE Drama study list. She has been a VCE Drama Assessor for VCAA and most recently directed Children of the Black Skirt for Ballarat National Theatre. Her directing and theatrical experience is wide and varied which affords her a broad perspective and knowledge on many aspects of theatrical performance.
Deanne has 20 years’ experience as a passionate, hardworking and experienced Drama, Theatre Studies and Digital Technologies teacher who thrives on inspiring her students to become lifelong learners. Deanne loves to combine her passion for Drama and Technology to develop innovative ways in which they work together, whether that is in the classroom or in the Theatre. Deanne has presented at several state and national conferences on technology education and drama education. Currently a Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert, she collaborates with innovative teachers from across Australia and New Zealand working with Microsoft to improve the use of technology in education. Deanne was selected by Microsoft to attend the global E2 conference in Budapest in March 2016 in which she presented on the topic of Virtual Drama (teaching drama online to rural schools).
Deanne and her husband Nic are so very excited to be able to continue the next chapter of Jete! And to carry on the inspiring work that Lauren has done with such passion and skill for the past 15 years. Having been part of the Jete! Family for the past 6 years themselves as parents of two little dancers, they love the inclusive and supportive nature of Jete! and they are very much look forward to being able to continue supporting developing passion and a love for dance and creativity in all Jete! students.
Deanne is looking forward her transition from the classroom and theatre into the dance studio to teach Musical Theatre, Drama, Improvisation, Singing, Salsa and Belly Dance classes at Jete!
